To gild the rear side of a piece of glass with gold or silver leaf.
French for “gilded glass”, verre églomisé describes the delicate process in which thin sheets of gold or silver leaf are cut to various shapes and sizes and applied to the rear surface of glass to produce the desired decorative pattern.
